In 2004, the Department of Environmental and Natural Resources Economics was established and became the sixth department of the Faculty of Economics. It is the first place that offers the major of Environmental and Natural Resources Economics in Vietnam. Currently, the Department of Environmental and Natural Resources Economics only provides one undergraduate program.

      The undergraduate program in Environmental and Natural Resources Economics focuses on technical and natural scientific knowledge within the first two years, economical and social scientific knowledge in the third year, and specialized knowledge on environmental and natural resources economics in the last year. After 3 to 5 years of graduation, the expected outcomes of the graduates are:

 - To use economic theories and analytical methods for understanding of the environmental and natural resource issues.

- To apply economic tools to evaluate the allocation and utilization of natural resources and the management of the natural environment.

- To be able to predict the likely effects of government policies and regulations and devise solutions to the pressing economic and environmental problems at the local, regional and national levels, as well as the global context.

- To have social responsibilities, work ethics, and teamwork to engage in the field of environmental economics.
