- Brief of History of Faculty of Economics

INTRODUCTION

Faculty of Economics was founded in 1978 with the former name Faculty of Agricultural Economics. Back then, the Faculty had only one undergraduate program of Agricultural Economics. Along with the direction of multi-disciplinary development of Nong Lam University, the Faculty has successfully been developing and operating several programs at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. We are proudly run by a highly qualified and dedicated team of lecturers and researchers, who have graduated from respected universities in Vietnam and in other countries such as USA, Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Germany, South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, China, and the Philippines.

Currently, Faculty of Economics is managing nine undergraduate programs, including Agricultural Economics, Environmental and Natural Resource Economics, Agricultural Business, Rural Development, Accounting, Business Administration (General), Business Administration (Commerce), Financial Management, and Business Administration (High Quality Program). The Faculty has successfully developed two master programs in Agricultural Economics and Economic Management, as well as one doctoral program in Agricultural Economics. Based on stakeholders’ feedback, all the programs have been being periodically and regularly adjusted and updated to meet social demands and the labour markets in Vietnam and in Southeast Asia.

The programs of Faculty of Economics considerably satisfy students’ demand in pursuing higher education. Students have been being provided with a wide range of knowledge and skills in diversified fields of economics, rural development and extension, business administration, finance, and accounting. Studying with Faculty of Economics, students will be challenged and inspired. Students will receive the best academic preparation to achieve in their chosen discipline and equip them with knowledge and skills to make a real difference. Through the process of establishment and development, there have been thousands of graduates significantly contributing to the socio-economic development of Vietnam in both public and private sectors.

Faculty of Economics has also been fostering scientific research at the grassroots, national and international levels; widening international academic networks for research collaborations; and consulting and guiding the implementation of economic and rural development policies. The Faculty has been conducting science and technology transfer to local communities, significantly contributing to economic development and poverty alleviation, especially in the rural and remote areas.
