                                        STATEMENT FOR ENGLISH CLUB ESTABLISHMENT
                                              (English Club of Economics Faculty – ECEF)

I. Aims

- Improve and develop four English skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing  

- Provide favorable environment for young lecturers of the faculty to enrich English competency in studying, teaching, and doing research.

- Boost the support, solidarity and sharing of knowledge and experiences among members.

II. Members

All lecturers working at the Faculty of Economics, Nong Lam University

3. The club’s members

All young leturers in the Faculty’s Youth Union are obliged to join the club. In addition, other lectures of the falculty are encouraged to participate or to contribute to the development of the club.

IV. Activities

1. Overall plan

- Regular activities are organized weekly in each semester of the academic year.

- The weekly topics are chosen by the executive committee based on members’ suggestions. Each member of the club takes turn to facilitate the activities of the club.

- Some seminars, where research results are presented in English with the aim at developing both writing and presentation skills, will be organized.

- Connecting programs of English communication at the foreign language centers and other English clubs will be established for the members.

2. Specific Activities

Weekly activities:

- The first semester 1 (between September and December): 2 general topics, 1 academic topic, and 1 academic seminar / month

- Semester 2 (between January and April): 1 general topic, 1 academic topic and 2 academic seminars / month

-  Extracurricular activities: once / semester

V. Operating principles of the club

- The club operates under the organization and administration of the Club's Executive committee and the supervision of Dean of the Faculty.

- The English club operates on the principle of openness, transparency and democracy

- The Club’s Management Board is responsible for all activities of the Club.

- Club’s activities must be organized according to the Overall plan. All activities taking place in the Club must be reported periodically to the Dean and approved by the Dean. The Club’s activities are built on the members’ contributions of content.

The club’s activities must not affect negatively on Vietnamese traditions, morals, ideals and lifestyles. These activities must not violate state laws, national security and religious activities.

VI. Rights and obligations

1. Rights and obligations of the management committee.

a) Rights

- The club’s executive committee manages and operates all activities of the Club under the direction and supervision of the Party Cell, Dean of the Faculty and Lecturer’s Youth Union.

- The executive committee is allowed to accept admission of new members, to make decisions on rewarding or penalizing of the club’s members based on the club’s regulations.

- Members are given priority in evaluating the commendation in activities of the School, Faculty, Union, Youth Union of Faculty’s lectures

b) Obligations

- The Club's Board of Managers is under the direction and supervision of the Party Committee and Dean and takes responsibility for reporting the club’s regular activities to the Party Committee, the Head of Faculty, the Executive Committee of the Youth Union of Lecturers, and the Youth Union of the Faculty.

- The Club’s Board is responsible for all activities of the Club.

- The club unites and helps each other join hands to build the club’s strong development.

- The club is always enthusiastic with the members' opinions in order to give the right orientation for the activities and development of the club.

- The club takes responsibility for all its activities.

- The club is always willing to help the members enhance their English proficiency.

- The club is an exemplary model in all activities as well as other aspects.

2. Rights and obligations of the members.

a) Rights

- The members who fulfill their duty will be awarded. Specifically, the members will be proposed to the Head of Department to add four extra points to the annual officer evaluation report.

- Be allowed to participate in not only activities organized or coordinated by the club but also cultural, social activities, and exchange programs with foreigners.

- Be helped in difficult situations.

- Be promoted to the key positions of the club when performing well

- Be permitted to contribute their ideas for the club’s development.

- The participation is evidences for choosing the members to join the Party Committee.

- The participation is evidences for assessment of the members in other activities of the Faculty, Youth Union of the lecturers, and the Union of the Faculty.

b) Obligations

- The members who participate at least 70% of the club’s activities are considered to fulfill their duty.

- Strictly adhere to the club’s principles and rules in all activities.

- Strictly follow the club’s administration and finish the tasks assigned by the boards of managers.

- Participate in the club’s activities enthusiastically and be sensitive, and have direct contribution to the development of the club.

- The members unite and help each other join hands to build the club’s strong development.

- Introduce the club’s activities so that many other people know about the club.

- Have good attitudes with personal development.

This is detailed plan for establishing English Club of the Faculty of Economics. This plan is expected to be approved and supported by the Dean of the faculty.
